Player Ships

Players can own personal ships on the Cryosphere, of a variety of types. Go to a shipdealer, such as the one at Livingstone Starport, to obtain one. Once you have purchased one it should soon arrive at the associated starport.

You can name your ship with the name command.

The ship is voice controlled. When in the control area examine the list to get a list of known destinations, then say the three-letter code to pick your destination, e.g.

Cryosphere>'BCR
You say ‘BCR’
A computer says ‘Setting course for the Cryosphere.’

SS Orange's Ship is in orbit of the Cryosphere.

SS Orange's Ship has arrived at Docking Port 5 at the Cryosphere.

The door has opened.

The ship can only go to destinations it has a quantum rod for. Bare quantum rods can be obtained from ship dealers and repair shops, and can be paired with the waypoint at the destination. When placed in the navigation the ship will now know about that destination. Ships come with several built-in quantum rods, for popular locations.

You can lock your ship from the outside, and open it to get back in.

If you are separated from your ship, then you can purchase a remote control which will summon it to your current location.

Your ship can break down or run out of fuel. Faults can include the lights going, the higher engine gears breaking, or the navigation computer breaking. If the navigation computer breaks you may be able to use percussive maintenence to get it to acknowledge the correct destination, or you may be able to work out a pattern. We recommend getting a regular service.

To find out how much fuel you have you can examine the fuel tank, which may be in the hold of the ship. You can get a refill at trading consoles, or you can buy jerricans of fuel and drag them around if you want a spare supply.

If you have run out and your spaceship is unable to make progress, or if you need to evacuate for some other reason, you can use the emergency displacer. To reconnect with your ship, there is a towing service that the BIS will provide, to refuelling your ship and then bring it back to your current location.

You can buy and sell goods from your ships hold using the trading consoles at docks. Different docks will have different sell and buy prices, so with planning it may be possible to make an operating profit.

You can only buy one ship at the moment. If you wish to replace your ship, you can get the deeds to it from the SVLA on Livingstone, which can be sold in place of the ship. Be aware that everything on the ship will be vanish, so make sure that you don't sell it containing cargo or your personal possessions.
