Connecting Securely
If you connect using normal telnet, it means that the data sent between the mud and you is subject to interception at any of the many points connecting the two ends. Notably, the password you use will be sent along the wire in plaintext.To combat this, the Cryosphere supports telnet-over-ssl (or telnets or stelnet). Some mud clients support this, notably our custom one, Crystal. If you know of any others, please let us know.
Our stelnet address is cryosphere.net port 6766. With crystal you should connect to this like
crystal stelnet://cryosphere.net:6766/
